Bringing fungi to modern wellness

In 2022, Juan Alvaro Cepeda began exploring nootropics, inspired by the potential of natural medicines to support focus and overall wellness. In 2023, Juan faced one of life’s greatest challenges with a diagnosis of Stage 4 Rectal Cancer. During this time, he combined the best of modern medicine with his growing interest in medicinal mushrooms.

Less than a year later, Juan entered remission. That experience deepened his respect for holistic practices and inspired him to share what he learned. What began as a personal journey has grown into a mission: making the power of fungi accessible for modern wellness. Today, Juan channels his passion for mycology into products crafted to support balance, resilience, and everyday wellbeing.

Our Dual-Extraction Process

Medicinal mushrooms contain structurally diverse compounds that are not all accessible through a single preparation method. To address this, we use a dual-extraction process designed to capture both water-soluble and alcohol-soluble constituents, resulting in a more complete chemical profile.

Why Extraction Is Necessary

Mushroom cell walls are composed largely of chitin, a rigid polysaccharide that human digestive enzymes do not efficiently break down. Without extraction, many bioactive compounds remain bound within this matrix and pass through the body largely unused.

Key point: Extraction increases accessibility, not just concentration.

Step 1: Alcohol Extraction

Unlocking non-water-soluble compounds

Process overview:

  1. Biomass is exposed to food-grade ethanol

  2. Solvent polarity targets non-polar and semi-polar compounds

  3. Extraction duration is carefully controlled

  4. Liquid extract is filtered and collected

Why this matters:

  • Triterpenes and sterols are not efficiently extracted with water alone

  • Many studies evaluating Reishi and Cordyceps rely on alcohol or dual extracts

Process overview:

  1. Fruiting bodies are dried and milled to increase surface area

  2. Material is extracted in distilled water at controlled temperatures

  3. Time and temperature are managed to avoid compound degradation

  4. Insoluble biomass is removed through filtration

What research shows:

  • Beta-glucans typically represent 10–40% of properly extracted fruiting body material, depending on species and extraction parameters

  • Hot water extraction is the standard method used in both traditional decoctions and modern research protocols

Step 2: Hot Water Extraction

Targeting beta-glucans and polysaccharides

Hot water extraction is used to release water-soluble compounds that are widely studied for their interaction with immune signaling pathways.

  • A full-spectrum approach

The water and alcohol extracts are recombined to reflect the natural diversity of compounds present in the mushroom.

This approach prioritizes chemical completeness rather than isolating a single marker compound.

  • The combined extract is:

    • Concentrated under reduced pressure

    • Dried using low-temperature methods

These steps help preserve thermally sensitive compounds and maintain consistency.

  • No mycelium on grain

We extract exclusively from 100% mushroom fruiting bodies.

    Why this matters:

    • Fruiting bodies naturally contain higher concentrations of beta-glucans

    • Avoids residual starch from grain-based substrates

    • Aligns with most published mushroom research methodologies

Process Transparency

Our focus is on:

  • Defined extraction ratios

  • Controlled solvent concentrations

  • Repeatable batch processes

  • Documented production parameters

Rather than relying on buzzwords, we prioritize clarity around how our extracts are made.

The Bottom Line

Extraction is the difference between consuming mushrooms and accessing their chemistry.

Our dual-extraction process is designed to respect both traditional use and modern scientific understanding—without shortcuts.
